PIKA FastOrange® media are optimized for routine analysis and process control in beer and wine production. The sample is simply mixed with liquid medium or spread on an agar plate. After incubation, a color change is used to evaluate whether the sample was contaminated. FastOrange® can also be used for PCR pre-enrichment – each batch is certified for PCR analysis.

Three different product lines cover the entire range of product spoiling microorganisms, they are coded for easy use with different colors.

Test for the typical beer spoiling bacteria. The lactic acid bacteria Lactobacillus and Pediococcus as well as the anaerobic bacteria Megasphaera and Pectinatus are easily detected by a color change from purple to yellow.

All FastOrange® B products are marked with a blue color code.

Specific detection of slow growing Brettanomyces / Dekkera yeasts. The combination of special nutrients together with growth inhibitors for other yeasts and bacteria allows selective propagation and visual detection of Brettanomyces yeasts.

All FastOrange® BRETT products have a purple color code.

To test for the presence of live yeast, including farm yeast, and on molds. Especially suitable for testing filtered product, for analyzing sugar-containing mixed drinks or for analyzing final rinse water to check the efficiency of cleaning and disinfection.

All FastOrange® Yeast products are marked with a yellow color code.

Test for wild yeasts including Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. diastaticus, especially for the brewing industry. Based on  EBC method ‘Saccharomyces Wild Yeasts, Cu-differentiation’, visible growth means presence of wild yeasts, the typical brewing yeasts are inhibited.
