We developed our kits for DNA extraction together with the later users.
For us at PIKA Weihenstephan, it is particularly important that our customers are able to work without major instrumental or time investments. Our DNA Isolation Kits are simple and robust, especially suitable for use in a QC lab of the beer, wine and beverage producing industry. The isolated DNA can be further used in different molecular biology based tests, both for the detection of spoilers or contaminations and for testing of genetically modified material. For grain analysis, PIKA SeedEx kits is optimized to analyze up to 10 g barley, malt or cereals.
With a few centrifugation and pipetting steps from sample to DNA: With our easy to use DNA Isolation Kits even non-molecular biologists can process their samples for PCR analysis without problems. We make your work so easy.
Our DNA Isolation Kits are suitable for use in the production lab, it is one simple procedure for all sample types and microorganisms. Beer samples, yeast turbid or process samples are all treated with the same method – the resulting DNA can be examined for both bacteria and yeasts.
We keep an eye on both your laboratory and your labor capacities. Sample processing with our DNA Isolation Kits takes 15 minutes hands-on time only. The equipment needed are pipets, a benchtop centrifuge and a Vortexer/shaker or a heating block/water bath only.
The DNA Isolation Kit PIKA BeadEx is intended for fast DNA extraction from bacteria, yeasts and molds from the environment, from process samples or from enrichments. Microorganisms can be taken from solid surfaces (e.g. colonies from membrane filters) or from liquid samples. Cell disruption is achieved mechanically without costly instruments by shaking in the presence of glass beads which are delivered in the lysis buffer of the kit. The isolated DNA can be further used in diverse molecular biology analyses as PCR.

Fast DNA extraction from product, process samples or from enrichments: PIKA HeatEx DNA Isolation Kits are optimized for the examination of samples from the beer and wine industry as well as soft drinks and juices. With one single extraction method, genomic DNA is isolated both from bacteria and yeast. The samples can be taken from solid surfaces (e.g. colonies from membrane filters) or from liquid samples. Cell disruption is achieved thermally by heating in the presence of lysis buffer. The isolated DNA can be further analysed in diverse molecular biology analyses as PCR.

Competence in microbiology with a broad background: The innovative products from PIKA are derived from applications of our own in-house analytics and services for producers. All our products from the whole portfolio are perfectly matched. PIKA products are outstanding in easy handling and extreme reliability, our services in short processing time and top quality at affordable prices.
PIKA was first to come to market with PCR kits in a dried format. Each kit is a complete package including material for DNA extraction as well as reagents and tubes for PCR thus covering the whole analysis. All product relevant microorganisms are detected within one single test, the handling is quite simple.
Developed by us to avoid microbiological damage of beer and many other beverages: PIKA FastOrange can be used by every brewer and every beverage producer for routine control throughout the whole process line. FastOrange is available in different varieties, according to the capabilities and equipment of your own lab.
We are fast and competent in doing routine analyses as enrichments, determination of colony counts and the differentiation of microorganisms – service and quality are most important for us. Of course we respond to your requirements and always deliver prompt and reliable results – if necessary, even through weekends.
Our work does not end at the analysis result, we further advise you how to deal with a contamination and propose the next steps to minimize the risk for further batches in your production line. You can also count on us when optimizing your routine quality control measures.
